Doctor Guide
This guide follows a doctor’s working day and links to the full page for each task. For who can do what, see Roles & Permissions.
Start of the day
- Open Today’s Patients from the Reception Queue. A doctor sees only the patients assigned to them.
Seeing a patient
- Select Start consultation on the patient’s row to open their chart at Encounters.
- Review vitals and the chart, then write a consultation note.
- Place orders or apply an order set for the encounter.
- Sign off diagnostic results assigned to you, and reassign or withdraw one when needed.
Finishing the visit
- Arrange a session for the patient if they need financial counselling or health education.
- Complete the visit to send the outcome to the patient.
- Compose a referral or a medical certificate where the patient needs one.
Singapore clinics (SmartCMS)
- Code the visit’s diagnoses in ICD-10-AM on the Diagnoses (ICD-10-AM) card. Claims and national reports depend on them.
- Confirm and send the disease notifications and CIDC reports waiting for you. Only a doctor can send them.
- Appeal a CHAS claim that MHCP rejected.
Throughout the day
- Send a message from a patient’s chart, or send and answer pings.
- Look up a medication in the formulary.
Not in this role
A doctor cannot register patients, book appointments, operate the queue, or manage staff, sessions, the formulary, the results rota, or roster publishing. For the full boundary, see Roles & Permissions.
