Running Agents

You can run an agent from its page, on one patient or many, from the workspace while you write, and from a conversation with Medbot about a patient. Every run is recorded as a call on the agent, with the workflow version it followed.

From the agent page

Click Run in the agent page header (or Run on its card) to open Run Agent.

  1. Choose what to run on:
    • Choose patients: pick a dataset, search its patients, and select one or more (All / None), then Use patient or Use <n> patients. The agent reads each record through FHIR tools.
    • Or paste a note into the box to run the agent on it directly. The dialog estimates the note’s token count.
  2. Choose the Run mode:
    • Interface runs on one patient or note and shows the result on the page straight away.
    • Background runs on every selected patient, even when you leave the app. It needs one or more dataset patients. See Background Runs.
  3. Choose the Processing:
    • With algorithm follows the agent’s workflow step by step: its live version, or a saved plan if it has no verified workflow yet. It needs expert knowledge.
    • No algorithm runs the agent from its prompt in one pass.
  4. Click Run.

An interface run’s result appears as Agent’s Output on the Overview tab, with the Accept, Edit and Reject bar.

Every run, whatever its source, is listed on the agent’s Agent Runs tab, where you can open its details, retry a failed run, cancel a running one, or delete it.

In a conversation about a patient

When a workspace conversation with Medbot is about a patient, click Run an agent on this patient (▶) in the message box. Choose one of your agents in Run an agent on <patient>. The result appears in the conversation as a card, with the Accept, Edit and Reject bar so you can review it there, and it is recorded on the agent’s live calls.

In the notes editor

Agents that process notes can be run on the note you are writing:

  • The Agents panel in the workspace sidebar lists your agents. Choose Default or Algo processing and click Run to process the open note. Use Copy output or Insert into editor on the result.
  • Select text and choose Agents in the editor’s bubble menu to run a selection agent on it. See Note Agents.
  • Form agents fill in a form from the note. See Form Agents.

Other ways an agent runs

  • Validation runs run the agent on every patient in its validation dataset (up to 500). See Validation.
  • Try on one patient in the workflow editor runs a saved version on one patient without making it live. See Workflows and Versions.
  • Service agents run on a service’s cohort, on demand or on a schedule. See Service Agents.
