Invites & Join Links

Two portal screens sit outside the five-tab bar, because both are reached before the person has a linked account. In both cases the link itself is the whole credential.

Self-registration

For a patient the clinic has never seen — no chart, so nothing to link to.

  1. Staff issue a self-registration invite from the CMS.
  2. The patient opens the link. It is public: no sign-in is required, and none exists yet.
  3. The patient fills in the registration form, which creates their chart at that clinic.
  4. On success the portal sends them straight into sign-up, and the new account links itself to the chart the moment it exists — so the patient lands on their own record in one pass rather than having to find the connect screen afterwards.

The self-registration route is rate-limited, since it is reachable without any account.

For a video consultation, where the person joining may have no Medbot account at all — a family member attending with the patient, for instance.

Staff issue a join link from the appointment in the CMS. Opening it resolves the consultation room directly from the token; no sign-in step stands between the attendee and the room. Once the room is ready, the patient’s arrival is reported back to the clinic so staff see them waiting.

Why these are not tabs

Every other portal screen answers “what does a linked patient see”. These two exist for people who are not linked yet — a not-yet-registered patient, or a video-consult attendee who never will be. They are one-time utility flows, not part of the portal’s own navigation, and they expire once used.
